Tips for Visiting Seville, Spain in December
Visiting Seville during the holidays? Here’s what to expect…

Seville is full of Christmas cheer in December! We visited from the beginning of the month until mid-December. If you’re visiting Seville to see the Christmas decorations, I would say Christmas season really kicks off with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th. We definitely noticed more lights and decorations after the holiday.
I recommend strolling around the area outside the main Cathedral for the main lights. There’s also a Christmas market in the area. If you’ve been to Germany for the Christmas markets, these don’t compare in my opinion so keep your expectations in check. Still, it’s fun to walk around and look at everything. If you want a good souvenir, there are many beautiful nativity scenes for sale at the markets. You can build your own by picking each individual piece.
You will notice there are lines to go into some of the churches around Seville. Get in line! Everyone’s lined up to see large, intricate nativity scenes inside.

A few more notes about visiting Seville in December:
- Constitution Day, a State holiday, is December 6th. If you need to book anything (trains, dinner reservations, etc.) plan ahead and book in advance.
- It rained a lot during our visit. According to locals, this was unusual. Still, better to be prepared.
